James Rehwald

Paid Social Manager

Earliest memory of working in paid social

“My first memory of working in paid social in my career was learning the ins and outs of Facebook Ads to help a hotel management company drive bookings and revenue across 12 different hotels. I spent time researching the unique value propositions for each hotel, finding creative assets to match offers, and developing customer acquisition strategies.”

Favorite email sign-off

“Cheers,”

Favorite thing about working in Paid Social

“My favorite aspect of working in paid social is tying together data and creativity. I love matching the right copy and visual assets with data-driven audience targeting to find what resonates best. I love that paid social provides plenty of testing opportunity when it comes to measuring the impact of creative updates and targeting adjustments across different platforms.”

Least favorite thing about Paid Social

“My least favorite thing about paid social is the length of time the LinkedIn Ads and Twitter Ads platforms require when creating a large set of ads whereas Facebook Ads’ ad duplication, editing, and publishing capabilities are more streamlined. For LinkedIn and Twitter accounts with advanced campaign structures, creating ads can be quite time-consuming.”

Favorite work-time lunch

“The ‘A Taste of Greek’ gyro food cart downtown will forever be a favorite of mine. Compared against all the gyro carts I’ve tried, this one tops them all!”

Biggest or most memorable client win at Obility

“A memorable client win for me was helping Puppet earn its highest lead volume and most cost efficient month launch-to-date. I was very happy to see that my audience and offer alignment setup enabled the client’s paid social account to deliver record positive results across multiple product categories.”

Favorite thing about the Obility Paid Social team

“My favorite thing about the Obility paid social team is our very inviting and collaborative atmosphere. My teammates have made it clear from the beginning that asking questions is encouraged and sharing findings with each other benefits the team as a whole. Everyone is dedicated and proactive towards ensuring we’re each putting our best foot forward and hitting our goals.”

Any other fun fact you want to share about yourself

“Fun fact about myself is that I met Lauryn Hill once! My girlfriend and I were walking near the venue where we had watched her perform when we suddenly ran into her and a bodyguard sneaking through a side street to avoid the crowded front area. Starstruck by the surprise, we talked a bit and took pictures together before she hopped into her SUV!”

Favorite email sign-off

“I sign nearly all my emails with ‘Best.’ I remember making the switch in college when my my friend/roommate told me that someone told her it was more professional than ‘Thanks’.”

“Injecting humanity and fun into ads. Whether that’s through fun creative or playful ad copy. We’re all human, so I love when clients are eager to tap into that.”

Least favorite thing about Paid Social

“Ad platform UIs can be so buggy! Granted, nothing in this world is without flaws, but it sure does grind my gears when a bug prevents me from saving or launching my work – or worse, when it totally crashes unexpectedly. Just let me live that #paidsociallife, Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter!”

Favorite work-time lunch

“I’m a sucker for a good homemade turkey sandwich between Dave’s Killer bread, with lettuce and tomato, and a honeycrisp apple. I’m a little embarrassed to admit how many times my coworkers have seen me eat that lunch at the office.”

Favorite email sign-off

“If it’s someone I know, I’ll say ‘Thanks.’ If it’s someone I don’t know I’ll say ‘Thank you for your time and consideration.'”
