On July 28 and 29, the Congo government will auction 16 "blocks" of the rainforest. This is the equivalent of 59 million acres. That's more than the states of New York and Maine combined.
In addition to accelerating the climate crisis, oil drilling will pollute this natural environment irremediably, destabilize the ecosystem, and open ways for commercial hunting and illegal logging.
