The added functionality of allowing members to purchase and renew their membership online through their website has automated their processes and saved their team hours of administration. We're also available for next day website changes so they push information out quicker and move on to their next focus. Introducing our next participant spotlight... Keyla Fajardo! 🎉

Some of her hobbies include going out to dinner with her kids, going to the beach, and being with her family. When it comes to her inspiration for completing the program, she stated "I want to be a role model for my kids and younger siblings. I have two girls and one boy, ages 4, 8, and 10."

When asked what was one of the obstacles she is working on overcoming, she stated "Getting my own place again. I recently had to move back home but I really want to be able to have my own space soon.".

If she could give one piece of wisdom to the next cohort it would be: "I would say to not be scared of a challenge. When I first applied to SoCal PreApprenticeship, I was nervous, but it’s good to be open to growing, learning, and being stretched. Things you learn now can always come back later and will be useful.".

Giving this startup a full brand package, they were able to launch with a solid website design, marketing plan, social media content preplanned and scheduled, and they hit the internet running. All they need to focus on is coffee inventory, roasting, and events. We occasionally create more social media content for them when they pass off videos or photos to us, and we curate a library of shared memes that they can use moving forward.

Did you know?.. coffee beans go through a sorting processes to remove defective beans.

Our SUMATRA MANDHELING last week often is "Double Picked" or "Triple Picked" and it basically means they sort it for defects twice or three times.

Double picked (DP) or triple picked (TP) typically has more aftertaste and earthiness -- not dirt road dusty murkiness, but rich satisfying lingering aftertaste.

If you use the pour over method to brew, have you tried a mesh filter instead of the paper filter? We'd love to hear your comparison and experience below ☕

When we brew and sample coffee for events, our preferred method is a pour over with a mesh filter, to allow the tasting notes to really shine through. Paper filters have a tendency to dull the notes that we take great care to specifically roast the bean to a certain temp and crack to bring forward.
