Abuzz Creative · Web DesignIn 2007, Kathy Bardins had just moved to Petoskey and she was interested in starting a business group for women. She knew from experience that women love to gather and network. She met with the Petoskey Chamber to present her idea of a women's group that offered professional development and networking, and she volunteered to chair it. Connecting Women in Business was born. The first lunch had 65 women in attendance. The second, 90. The third lunch, 120. Kathy was right - women love to gather and network! For fourteen years, Kathy was the face of CWIB and volunteered her time planning events and bringing speakers to each luncheon. She led a committee who shared her passion and together kept CWIB going strong. In 2019, Kathy retired from NCMC and decided it would soon be time for younger women to start getting involved in CWIB planning. This past Tuesday (June 22nd) was Kathy's last session acting as CWIB chair. Her heartfelt farewell showed just how much this group of women has always meant to her. I am thanking Kathy from the bottom of my heart. She was the reason why CWIB was a must-attend event for women, and she made it a wonderful place to network. I loved working with Kathy on the CWIB committee, and I learned so much from her years of expertise, her attention to detail, and her pure kindness. Thank you for believing in the women in our community and for bringing us together for the past fourteen years. You are leaving some really fabulous, stylish shoes to fill.
