💡 Kanban originated in manufacturing more than half a century ago. Initially, it was part of the Toyota Production System (TPS) that revolutionized the automotive industry in the early 1960s.  Many years later, in 2004, Kanban was adapted as a Lean Agile method for managing software development work by David Anderson. In 2010, his book Kanban: Successful Evolutionary Change for Your Technology Business was published. It's an equivalent of TPS but for intangible goods or knowledge work based on implementations from 2005 and 2007 at two Bill Gates companies, Microsoft and Corbis. Shortly after that, forward-thinking marketers started experimenting with Kanban as well. Kanban marketing showed potential for becoming the next big thing in marketing process management. Kanban for marketing is based on four underlying principles for implementing the method: 📌Start with what you do now 📌Agree to pursue incremental, evolutionary change 📌Respect the current process, roles, responsibilities, and titles 📌Encourage acts of leadership at all levels in the organization 💡 These principles allow us to implement Kanban for marketing without having to make big sweeping changes to our processes from the very start.
