Commercial IT companies and private tech clients around the world have recognized Ukraine as a hub for sourcing talents. The IT industry is one of the leading sectors of the Ukrainian economy. It exports $6.8 billion in services each year—approximately 4% of the country’s GDP. On February 24, when Russia started an insidious and inhumane war against Ukraine, the tech sector became a reliable backbone, providing regular export earnings to Ukraine's economy and the state budget through advanced tax payments. What does the IT industry do for our common victory, and why are we bound to win? 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆. The safety and wellbeing of Ukraine-based employees and their families remains the number one priority. Evacuation and temporary relocation is provided as necessary to enable workers to continue their tasks. The experience of remote work, which companies gained during two years of COVID quarantine, have helped to establish remote work relatively quickly and reach the level of productivity of 95% of the pre-war state. 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿. Ukraine's cyber-response to the Russian invasion was immediate. Many talented Ukrainians in the digital sphere, including developers, cyber specialists, designers, copywriters, and marketers are gathered in the Ukraine IT army to fight on the cyber front. How is it going? It’s a secret;) 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆-𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴. To fight and bring victory closer, a country needs a working economy. Here, the IT industry is making a significant difference. According to the IT Ukraine Association, Ukrainian IT companies donated $24.5 million during the first 10 days of the war and the donations haven’t stopped since. Despite the war, the mobilization of specialists and strategic relocation of teams in Ukraine's IT sector has generated a record $2 billion export earnings in the first quarter of 2022. 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Everyone's contribution to the common goal is crucial, whether with weapons in hand or continuing to perform the tasks they know best. The IT specialists are involved in technical tasks like the creation of volunteer sites, chatbots, and applications useful in wartime. At the same time, they are actively volunteering, searching for needed military goods, organizing logistics of supplies, and further distribution among the military.
