Branding Marcellus Foods was an absolute pleasure and a half (those are our words and we’re standing by them). You couldn’t ask for a better founder team than Eve Cohen, Dana Berge, and Marlee Belmonte, who are all brimming with industry expertise, creativity, and enthusiasm. Creating the category-defining Marcellus brand was a true collaboration. Here are some of the highlights:   🥕 Fresh prep grocery: We coined the term “fresh prep grocery” to describe Marcellus’ innovative approach to grocery—one that relieves people of the tiresome tasks of prepping, while allowing them to enjoy cooking. 🥕 Groceries made for meals: We created this brand tagline to succinctly convey the Marcellus Foods difference over conventional grocery stores. (Seriously, why has no one done this yet?!)    🥕 Marcellus Foods logo and logo mark: After exploring several ideas and iterations (check out the evolution in the link below!), we landed on a logo and color palette that balanced nostalgia and modernity, with a nod to the old-fashioned neighborhood dry goods store and a dash of Italian design. "Rice Krispies, mac-and-cheese, lasagna and other nostalgic ‘comfort foods’ have never been more popular," writes Chloe Sorvino in Forbes. She points out that many of the 13 food companies that IPO'd last year to much fanfare have experienced grave disappointment since, including Beyond Meat, Oatly and Zevia. Enthusiasm for food innovation has become more tempered. One of the trends we identified early this year is the "return to the real"—our collective craving for real food over plant-based mystery nuggets.
