Unbox is all about bringing people together. Connecting them in a way that’s really meaningful. A shared experience. And our second Unbox event did just that. Just look at all those lovely faces. Over 100 of them. We had selfies. Hugs. Brilliant people. Food, glorious food. Applause. More selfies. Kisses. And just loads of love. And it didn’t stop there. Alison was amazing. She was humble. Real. We mean, real with a capital R. And simply, hilarious. Away from the “talent” that we see daily on our screens – she’s had the likes of Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in hysterics, she’s “married” the Rock and Wolverine – she is a hard-working Mom. A mother who is determined to install the same family values into her lovely son, that she absorbed from her amazing mother, Maria, and her brother and sister. It was clear that being a mother will always be Alison’s most treasured job. AND SHE MANAGES HER OWN SOCIAL MEDIA – entertaining – on the daily – over 2 million followers across Instagram, TikTok and Twitter – she can’t be bothered with LinkedIn, apparently. Lightbox might do that for her, let’s see. And if you were there, you would have got some great tips as to how she manages this – we won’t tell you them all, but one was that at any one time she has nearly 100 drafts ready to go. The lady is a machine. Our takeaways: – Anger is too much effort. Do everything with kindness, grace and wisdom. – Be kind. Forgive. – Remove negativity from your life. Immediately. – Ignore the haters. And live YOUR life. Oh, and if you want to be a TV presenter – get on the old social media and show the world what you’re good at. So many people are now forging a career in television without ever having an interview, having to network, or producing their own professional reel, so who knows where that could take you. But just incase it doesn’t get you to the big screen, make sure you’re having fun and that you are doing it for both you and others ⚡️ For those that were able to attend, we hope you enjoyed it – the social media feeds throughout and after suggest you did. For those that weren’t able to a) follow the Unbox Insta Page here to learn about our next events and b) the below will give you an idea of how it went. Thank you, Alison. Thank you for being so lovely (she spent time, took pics, recorded videos etc. with nearly every guest) and for leaving over 120 people happy, motivated and feeling loved. So, what’s next? Firstly, the date for Unbox #3 is Thursday the 24th of November. And it’s going to be awesome. Who’s the speaker, you ask? Well, we will tell you very soon. Think of global brands. To do with feet. Any guesses yet? He will be talking about everything from building “invisible” influencer marketing campaigns, to having lunch with Pharrell Williams. It’s going to be amazing. For now, however, thanks for the love. Remember to keep it real, to empower one another, and to be your best. It’s as simple as that.

Rob: We need to do more events at the office. Julie: Yes, maybe get some really amazing speakers in to inspire, motivate and educate. To really open up. PJ: Let’s do this. We shall call it Unbox. Well, we think it went something like this. We wanted to create a series of events that people enjoyed. That people wanted to go to. That connected people. That really got people wanting to come back. And going on the reaction to our first event back in July, we have a feeling that we may be on to something. And that something is to inspire audiences of driven entrepreneurs and marketing specialists in a relaxed, like-minded environment. We basically nailed the brief, right? So, how did we do that? By filling a room with brilliant people? Partly. By feeding these brilliant people, amazing food? Partly. By investing in ace AV equipment? Partly. By hosting the event in a relaxed, welcoming environment? Partly. By making sure that the speaker was incredible? Yes. That they were humble, honest, and open? Yes again. That they had a brilliant story to tell that would leave others inspired. Hell yeah. And that speaker was none other than Paul Richardson. The ex-Chairman of the unicorn Gymshark and now (amongst many other things) owner of HERA clothing, also investing in amazing start/scale-ups such as Energym, Haru and ARX Alliance. Take a look at his amazing portfolio here. We met with Paul before the event and were amazed at how humble he was – in fact, it’s a call to action that he “stole” from Gymshark’s ex CEO, Steve Hewitt: “Word hard, stay humble”. He told us about his upbringing, and his ventures into waste, fashion and football. It just felt so real and so open. When asked if anything was “off the table”, the answer was simple: “no”. And this, we feel, helped make the conversation so fruitful, because it was so open. And for this, we will be eternally grateful. We are sure the 100 attendees feel the same. So, a few takeaways from Paul’s chat are below: – Be authentic. – Trust in your vision, together. – Surround yourself with (or hire) people better than yourself. – Work hard to win. Very hard. But don’t take our word for it – check out the interview here for an absolute gem of a chat. You can thank us later. So, what’s next? Well, we have our next event (they are every other month for now) on Tuesday the 27th of September. And our guest speaker is another gem. Another brilliant person with a brilliant story to tell (just like we promised above). LADIES AND GENTLEMAN – IT’S ALISON HAMMOND!! And you’ll hear all about the BAFTA-nominated TV presenter’s amazing journey, from holiday repping and Big Brother 3 to This Morning, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, and tap-dancing with Renee Zellweger. How has she built her digital brand? How does she maintain it? How does she cope with being in the digital spotlight 24/7? No stone will be left unturned and we cannot wait. So, if you fancy it, feel free to get involved. You’ll just need to REGISTER FOR FREE HERE and make sure you bring good vibes only. Let’s do this.

What it stands for and what it does for others. Other people will also start to see our brand more – hopefully meaning it becomes even more ingrained into the local digital community. Failing that, they serve the Netflix-and-chill-vibe very well. Community. There is a real sense of togetherness in the agency. It’s great to see. And it now seems even more obvious because of these items. Has our team been brought together even more through clothing? Probably not. Have they been brought together by feeling (and looking) more like a team? Probably, yes. And how lovely is that? But this is very important. Many agencies say that they’re a “family”. We prefer “team”. The former can often become too personal, where the latter encourages people to play in their right positions, to come together to win. And this “kit” just encourages this even further. Just look at them 😍😍 On-boarding. This is tough to get right. But so important. And there are facts to prove why – and it’s basically comes down to one thing. The better you get at on-boarding, the better you’ll get at keeping your talented team together. And this sort of merch helps. It instantly introduces new members of your team to the brand. To the togetherness of the agency. And to the proposition of making life easier for everyone involved. And who doesn’t love a good old “chilly bottle” to share on their social media or to show their loved ones? Please note, there is a LOT more to on-boarding and we’d be happy to show you exactly how we do this if you’re super-talented and want to join a lovely agency that not only hands out hoodies, but also does some cool work. Because of Wednesdays. Yes, you guessed it. We built out our entire brand* around the fact that some of the team love the film “Mean Girls”. And you know what that means: On Wednesdays We Wear Pink!!** So everything we got in black, we also got in pink. *We didn’t. ** We don’t. So, there we are. We got some lovely bits of merchandise. Oh and it was from the awesome Alex Smith at Printable Promotions if you’re asking. Check them out here. Fancy a chat? 0121 516 2500 Got a project? hello@lightboxdigital.co.uk
