Let’s talk about Torches of Freedom.   Edward Bernays, known as “the father of #publicrelations” decided to take on a challenge to eliminate the social taboo against women smoking in public. His client at the time George W. Hill, president of the American Tobacco Company, asked him how they can get women to smoke on the streets.   Bernay’s answer was getting Lucky Strike cigarettes to the women’s liberation movement, and staged a demonstration at the 1929 Easter parade, hosting fashionable female gurus photographed flaunting their “torches of freedom” – Lucky Strike cigarettes.   #publicrelationsagency #socialbranding #business #womenbusiness
