Thought I'd share a quick story. One of my clients is an archery company. They were a little upset about a recent policy change that they thought went against the stated goals of the governing organization, and also worked against their customers. We created a PAID facebook campaign, targeting members of the broader archery community. This was a short spend, but because the targeting worked out well, the message spread. After the campaign, the governing organization had an about face and reversed their decision. I think the success of the campaign came from the targeting but also a solid message. This was not a 'turn out the protest' campaign. Rather, it was just an awareness of the issues campaign that didn't demand an action, but compelled action through a sympathetic message.
