FYI - For the past couple weeks, Google have been rolling out their latest Core Update which will broadly impact their algorithm. This June Update is gradually coming into effect as of now, but they'll actually be implementing another Core Update in July next month. Why should you care? For SEO geeks & website owners alike, you might see your rankings move around a bit for the next two months while these changes settle in. If you see a slight dip this month, hang fire, because July's update might bring you back up to where you were before. As we've said before, Google are cracking down on the real-time page experience that users are getting on your website on their mobile. Is your website accessible? Chances are you'll have some room for improvement. WebAIM claim that over 98% of sites are slacking on accessibility. Your site actually has to be inclusive to everyone by law, like those with impairments or disabilities. Being mindful makes for better overall user experience, which Google favours as well. Some key tips from Alan to get you started: Text Readability Use light text on a dark background or vice versa for a good colour contrast & have sufficient white space between paragraphs - don't use a tiny font size. Headings Use headings & subheadings wisely to describe the page's structure for non-visual users. Video Content Write & include a transcript of audio in your videos & descriptions of key visuals. No Mouse Test Try moving around your site without touching your mouse at all - is using the keyboard alone sufficient? Navigation/site design is key. Mobile Test How's it looking on a mobile?
