You already know what NOT to do with hashtags, so how should you actually use them? Put some time into researching hashtags. You'll want to save a set of hashtags you can refer back to, instead of thinking of new tags each post. Look for hashtags that have between 100k and 1mil uses, and make sure they are relevant to you. The exact range varies for each business, but this is a good benchmark. Use around 3-8 hashtags in each post. I personally find 5-7 work best for me, but it may be different for you, so play around with it.
