Pop-ups aren't popular. 73% of internet users don't like them, making them the least favorable advertising technique in existence. Why don't people like them? Because when you're in the middle of browsing a website and suddenly an intrusive ad appears, forcing you to look at it and deal with it, it interrupts your browsing experience. However, we have noticed, time after time, visitors will come to a client's website due to paid advertising but convert on the pop-ups. We know pop-ups work and we insist all our clients implement pop-ups regardless of their personal feelings about them (e.g. all our tech CEOs dislike them intensely).

We could go on about reasons we’ve heard why leads don't turn into deals. And reasons why deals don't close-won. "I consistently email the leads, but many do not respond.""We need more qualified leads. I call the leads, but they’re not qualified. ""We are getting a lot of leads, but the majority can't afford our solution.""I emailed pricing, but they went dark." Add your own here. The bottom line is if sales and marketing are not working together, deals will not close. In a B2B SaaS model, marketing should never be responsible for closed/won deal metrics. And as we see the economic outlook change, it's doubtful we will see one-call deals closing. Without a solid marketing strategy combined with a sales process that reps follow, deals will fall out of the pipeline and not close.

🤓 Geek Alert This blog post is for marketers who get into the nuts and bolts of email in an almost FRIGHTENING 👾 way. Orange Marketing sent its best-performing B2B email newsletter last week. This email newsletter achieved an astounding (for us) open rate of 42% with a 13% click-through rate. Because email has been a challenge for 100% of our B2B SaaS clients, we wanted to share what we changed to increase performance. Unfortunately, we didn't do a scientific test. We changed everything we could, so we aren't 100% sure what caused the big lift. Our fellow marketers can judge for themselves. The email volumes in start-up B2B culture are small, and typical A/B tests are inconclusive. Sometimes it is just best to test and pivot.
