Long standing client @wateraid approached us to help develop a new virtual cycling challenge to reach a new audience.

We focused on casual but serious cyclists and everything was tailored to this audience, from the creative to the platform we used. An elevation challenge gave us a point of difference as we set a distance based on Kilimanjaro - where WaterAid help communities impacted by climate change. CLIMB-IT was born!

@Strava is commonly used amongst cyclists so we selected a Strava Challenge as the primary platform for both the activity and acquisition. We created a fresh and dynamic creative campaign, sharing engaging content on the WaterAid Strava club to drive sign ups.

We were 'wheelie' happy with the high level of engagement. 106k cyclists signed up for the challenge, there was lots of peer support through ‘kudos’, and the WaterAid Strava club increased by 700% (creating a solid database for future events).

As the year draws to a close, we're reflecting on some of the killer projects we've been a part of.

We’ve been able to develop bold strategies, turn latest trends into income, develop some of our best creative yet, and see all of this translate into success and growth for our charity partners.

From helping charities such as @age_uk and @wateraid drive substantial income, to designing standout creative for @bloodcancer_uk and @the.rnoh.charity, smashing targets for @actionforchildrenuk and focusing on profile raising for @nspcc_official and @officialzsl - it's been quite the year!

We cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store but until then, we’ll be signing off for all the festive joy and indulgence from 23rd December until 3rd January. See you on the flip side!

A virtual event success story with one of our fabulous clients, Samaritans! After working together in 2019 to create a brand new fundraising product - Samarathon - we partnered again in 2020 to optimise on the events’ success and develop it for year 2. 

We first carried out a strategic review and looked at ways we could take the product to the next level. We also refreshed the creative, which was crucial considering the event was to take place during a global pandemic and needed to be flexible. 

A carefully considered media plan and supporter journey was also key to ensuring that year 2 performed even better than the pilot. Killer managed the paid media campaign throughout, with daily optimisation to ensure high performance and ROI.

There was some concern that COVID-19 would hinder performance, but the campaign far exceeded our expectations, attracting 3,674 sign ups and raising a massive £542,752!
