Is your current Instagram analytics tools tracking the newest features? Over the past couple months, we’ve seen Instagram unveil new features, like product tagging, new interactive stories features, and hidden like counts. Each of these will undoubtedly have a real impact on what us social media marketers do every day, and you’ll need to tweak your marketing strategy accordingly.
But face let’s face it: you can’t tweak your Instagram strategy without data to support your changes—after all, doing this could cause your Instagram performance to tank and leave you in a worse position than where you started.
But how do you pull this data, and more importantly, what metrics do you need to track? Well, it’s a good thing you asked, because in this article, we’ll dive deep and show you the best Instagram analytics tools of 2019. Then, we’ll discuss the metrics you need to track to monitor your performance.
Note that many of the articles featured in this piece have both publishing and analytics/reporting capabilities. To stick to the scope of this article, we’re going to focus solely on their analytics functions.
Sound good? Let’s dive in!
Here at Social Report, we’re confident that we offer the best Instagram analytics features of all the social media management apps. So naturally, we placed ourselves first on the list ?
With Social Report, you can track all aspects of your Instagram accounts. The app tracks your follower count, engagement rates, and other important stats automatically. Just add your Instagram account to a Social Report project, and we’ll immediately start pulling analytics.
Currently, we have two types of reporting views: cross and single channel. Our cross channel reports let you view all of your networks side-by-side, while the single channel reports let you dive super deep into one particular social network (like Instagram!).
You can track literally every aspect of your Instagram accounts in the single channel view. This includes important metrics like post reach, hashtag reports, and impressions per post, giving you powerful information you can use to better curate the content you post.
Oh, and even cooler? You can pull PDF and Excel reports for all of your social media accounts with Social Report. Our PDF reports are pixel-perfect and meeting ready, and the Excel reports get technical and let you crunch your own numbers.
Give Social Report a shot FREE for 30 days. After that, our plans start at just $49 per month, so we’re affordable for any agency, small business, or enterprise.
Cyfe is the master of social media dashboards. Using the app, you can create dashboards that show important social media and web analytics, like follower counts and number of engagements per day.
You can add different widgets to your Cyfe dashboards and make awesome informational boards that give you a snapshot of your sales and marketing stats. For example, in the screenshot above you can see Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook stats listed side-by-side.
On the Instagram side, Cyfe will show you follower counts, number of photos, and the number of accounts your Instagram account is following. While this isn’t the most in-depth Instagram info, it’s a great way to view a snapshot alongside other important dashboard info.
Cyfe currently has a free tier that you can use free of charge indefinitely. Do yourself a favor and sign up today—we promise you’ll be mesmerized by the app’s awesome dashboards.
Hootsuite has long been a household name in the social media management world. The app has a suite of scheduling and reporting tools where you can view follower counts, engagements by type, and the number of likes per photo on Instagram and other social networks.
These are great for getting a basic understanding of your Instagram engagements, but leave a bit to be desired. For example, there’s no way to view your engagement distribution over time or create engagement goals.
Hootsuite has a limited free plan that supports up to three social accounts and has super basic reporting tools. You’ll need its $129 per month Team plan in order to export reports and create custom analytics.
HypeAuditor takes a different approach to Instagram analytics. Instead of pulling via the Instagram API, it uses its own artificial intelligence to show how well an individual Instagram account is optimized and performing.
You can run just about any Instagram account through HypeAuditor and view important stats like followers over time, follower demographics, fake follower reports, and engagement rates. This makes HypeAuditor super helpful for vetting influencers to ensure their followings are legit.
Using HypeAuditor isn’t cheap though. The service charges $30 per audit, but the price per audit goes down significantly if you buy multiple audit packs. The company also offers influencer discovery features to its more premier clients.
SocialBakers is a full-featured social media management tool with an emphasis on AI-powered reporting. Using the app, you can find awesome tid-bits of knowledge like the best time of day to post to social channels, total follower counts, and more.
Beware though: there is no publicly available pricing data online. Further, the reviews we’ve found online say that the app has a lot of paid add-ons, so make sure to ask about these when you request a quote. After all, no one wants to be stuck with a huge bill for Instagram analytics.
Union Metrics is a analytics-only social media tool that lets you track your Instagram growth, find your top fans, and even monitor and pull reports on specific keywords and hashtags. You can also split up your searches by campaign, giving you an easy way to track multiple marketing initiatives.
Union Metrics comes at a price though. The app starts at $49 a month for reporting on three social profiles and one user. You can, however, pull a free Instagram health report that shows the best time to post and your best performing content.
Tailwind is an Instagram and Pinterest focused social media management app. On the analytics side, you can use Tailwind to track your Instagram followers, monitor specific hashtags, and even benchmark your content virality post-by-post.
One of Tailwind’s more unique features is its ability to find your influential Instagram followers. This will help you find influencer marketing partnerships with people you’re already connected with, giving you a shot at good rates and influencers that actually care about your products.
Iconosquare is a powerful Instagram and Facebook analytics tool. With the tool, you can drill-down and track the smallest intricacies of your Instagram engagement like the types of posts your brand is tagged in, engagement-to-reach ratios, and the number of impressions per post.
These analytics come at a cost though: the tool starts are $29 per month, but only includes three social profiles. Adding extra profiles costs $14.25 per month, making it one of the most expensive Instagram analytics tools on this list.
